1. Silicon based bioactive materials:

a) Silanols as novel antimicrobial materials;

b) Novel approaches to facilitating various drugs to penetrate the blood-brain barrier.

2. Silicon based materials, especially silsesquioxane and related inorganic/organic hydride materials and silicon-containing ceramics‚ and their polymeric precursors including sol-gel precursors and preceramic polymers. Current projects include:

a) Silicon-containing nano and micro particles for drug over does detoxification;

b) Polydimethylsiloxane based marine foul release coatings containing sub-micron topographical features.

3. Nuclear reactor materials. Current projects include

a) Leaching and long term storage of Th/U based fuels.

b) B-containing polymers for burnable poison systems.

c) Ceramic corrosion resistant coating on fuel cladding.

4. Detoxification of drug by overdoes Chitosan basic materials.
